Ivan and Ondra run the company honestly, openly and fairly. They leave room for people to make mistakes and discuss them afterwards. Such open leadership often surprises new people because it gives us all a lot of responsibility and no one can make excuses or hide behind someone else's decisions.

Global ambition, huge potential and plenty of opportunities
We are building an international company that will be recognized for its expertise, as well as imaginative and precise execution. We want to be leaders in card-linked marketing and build services that are fully functional and will always add value and be an integral part of our customers' business. We built Dateio to develop and maintain long-term relationships with our bank and merchant partners.
The potential is clear. We are adding new banks and new countries in which we are starting to operate. It's been a constant challenge for everyone over the last year. For people who have it in their DNA to constantly learn and achieve expert level, Dateio is a dream job. Learning is perpetual here.
Informal and easygoing
The only stress you will encounter here is the physical one, which comes from the amount of work and the amount of tasks we do every day. But we guarantee you won't go home lacking energy. Here at Dateio, you won't experience the kind of creeping stress that kills you. We don't have power thirsty people, no one is chasing anyone, no one is playing politics. On the contrary, the culture here is set up to work together and it's all about team results.
I guess it's the setup of Ondra and Ivan and also the kind of people they've managed to bring into Dateio. It's a conflict-free zone here. What everybody across the company appreciates is the ability to implement things in their own way with their own ideas, their own inventiveness, and also in coordination with the whole.
A perfectly matched team
What is typical for Dateio is a certain diversity of personalities and plurality of opinions. This is simply functional. A good football team does not need 11 Ronaldos, but good strikers, good defenders, a great goalkeeper and a good coach. The important thing is that there is a clear and common goal and a desire to achieve it. Every opinion counts here, every idea gets space.
People here can be themselves without pretense, which is very liberating and ultimately speeds things up.
It's great that people are supportive of each other and never turn away when someone needs help.
Just don't take yourself too seriously
It's a more male collective, which we don't know if we can say that openly these days. And this is matched by humour and the way of communication, enhanced by the approach of Ivan and Ondra, who prefer a free approach to people rather than a directive.
No one is playing games. Everyone here doesn't care who has a more expensive shirt or a better car. What matters is how we work together and whether we treat everyone fairly. Our humour is on specific topics, so we need to be able to make fun of ourselves and not take ourselves so seriously.
As in any growing start-up
Here, too, you will find mainly tenacity and the desire to implement an idea that we believe in. When we started, Ivan wrote the first code and Ondra went around to the first banks with a concept that was at its conceptionWhen the first bank believed in them, it made everything take off and it began to have a direction and vision. Today we sit in 400 square meters of offices where there is mostly chatter, discussion and where ideas are born that move us forward. The tenacity and drive to succeed is always there, and on top of that, a multitude of smart people working together on a daily basis. Weekly statuses are just kind of a recap. The important stuff happens every day from morning to night.
Because data is the key to new skills
It is marketing targeted according to the purchasing behaviour of the cardholder.
If a customer goes to one particular coffee shop in one place in town, we can target the ad by product and geolocation because the card transaction record contains all of that. So customers don't see an ad for the Christmas market in Liberec in the banking app when they're from Karlín, but they do see a breakfast menu at a café around the corner and our partners can steer the ship in a meaningful way. In addition, cardholders are offered various rewards or cashback service options, deepening the popularity of the banking app and the motivation to use the card.
Our challenge is to connect the three vertices of the triangle in a perfect, precise and meaningful way so that our solution benefits the bank's customer, the bank itself and the specific merchant with its products. We are one of the best in Europe at this and we want to be number one.

You can meet the Slovak triathlon champion or people who run marathons. Cyclists, runners and generally sporty people. Almost all of us cycle to work. Last year, we launched a challenge to cycle 500 km company-wide, which was successful. We love sport and because of that we have a certain healthy competitive sports mentality.
So if you play sports, you're welcome here. And we certainly don't want to eliminate non-athletes. They're welcome here too, and they certainly won't feel discriminated against. We just want to say that athletes will get along well here with us.
At a time when a consumer's banking identity offers more accessibility, physical discount cards no longer make sense, but most transactions, even loyalty ones, will take place on bank mobile apps. We are building a product that belongs in the modern world. With us, you won't be working on outdated systems or products that have gone out of date, but on modern technology and unique fintech products. We think we offer great technology bags and challenges that people will learn a lot from.
The buzz, the communication, the constant interaction
We have Teams, we have team statuses and all hands meetings, but what is most effective about Dateio is the fact that communication between people and teams is fluid in the office. The moment a campaign is launched, all teams across the company are working together on it. Operating from offices where we all sit together, the work is pretty hands-on and team efficiency is high because the colleague you need to solve a problem is an arm’s length away. It's more difficult in remote mode, but when push came to shove, we made it work effectively in an online environment too.

We started in Impact Hub in Prague, but we outgrew it. However, we didn’t move so far and you can still find us in the same building, but through the entrance from the courtyard on Štefánikova Street. We all sit in one creative space.
Building a long-term successful company
Neither Ondra nor Ivan is building Dateio with the goal of selling it and exiting. On the contrary, the vision is a long-term sustainable company that will grow steadily and be globally successful. Because only in such a mindset will everyone find their space and what they enjoy. We want to do things that will add value and be of high quality, and to do that we need a team of people who will share and fulfill our vision. The approach to a company that has long-term potential that we are gradually fulfilling is just different than in a quickly scalable project. For us, it's not just about the product, it's about the deep quality within.
